New staff bring new ideas and new motivations with them when they join a team, which is something that we encourage and nurture at SLM Toyota. This Summer, our Toyota Hastings Centre welcomed two new members to the aftersales team, who each bring with them years of experience and knowledge that we’re sure will inject new life into an already vibrant team.
Meet Gavin Hornby, who takes position as our new Service Manager, and Janet Gaines as Service Advisor at our Toyota Hastings Centre.
Gavin Hornby – Service Manager
Strong leadership is essential for any department, especially in the motor trade, which is why we’re delighted to announce Gavin as our new Service Manager. Gavin joins us with over 20 years in the motors trade, starting on the front lines as a Parts Advisor with Audi, before working his way to Head of Business for VWCV. This valuable industry experience, in roles spanning the department, make Gavin a superb addition to the team.
When we asked Gavin what he was most looking forward to in his new role, he said: “Working with new people and a new brand, and pushing myself to learn and engage with all aspects of the business to help the Centre as a whole to be more profitable.”. This superb work ethic, and hunger to progress gives us great confidence that Gavin will excel in his new role.

Janet Gaines – Service Advisor
Also joining Gavin in the team is Janet, who will be helping our customers first hand with their aftersales queries as one of our new Service Advisors. With an excellent and diverse background in the motoring industry, Janet will be a valued asset at Toyota Hastings.
Janet has a broad understanding of the industry, with a career spanning decades, and in a variety of roles including HR & Fleet Manager at Michelin Tyres, running her own Car Dealership in Harrow, and even previously working at SLM Toyota Hastings. The insight Janet has gained in her career not only gives her the product and process knowledge to be efficient in her role, but also the compassion and understanding required to deliver a positive customer experience when handing queries.
Our Centre Principal at Toyota Hastings welcomes Janet back to the team, saying: “I am really pleased to welcome Janet back to the SLM family. A well-known face to many at SLM, Janet re-joins the group and we at Toyota Hastings are very happy to say that it’s here with us!
