Vauxhall’s Electric Streets of Britain campaign is here to help the 40% of UK households without off-street parking smoothly transition to electric vehicles.
Whether you already own an electric vehicle or are thinking about getting one in the future, we’re committed to making sure you have easy access to convenient charging points right in your neighborhood.
We’re working to create a comprehensive view of EV charging demand across the nation. In collaboration with our partners at Electric Streets of Britain, we’ll use the insights we gather to assist local councils in speeding up the rollout of on-street charging options.
Vauxhall has once again collaborated with Cenex to review the UK's Electric vehicle infrastructure plan. The new report, as of September 2025, highlighted that 22.9% of households are within a four-minute walk of chargepoint, up 3.3% from 2024 (300,000 more households) and 1.5 years ahead of demand.
Coverage in remote areas, such as the Isles of Scilly, has sharply risen from 0% to 65.9%. Additionally, 29 local authorities already meet 2030 demand targets, and 51% of councils now have a dedicated EV policy officer.
The Electric Streets of Britain initiative was introduced in August 2023, following a Vauxhall investigation that uncovered that over 70% of UK councils lack a published strategy for on-street residential electric vehicle charging.
In response to this finding, Vauxhall established a nationwide database designed to monitor the demand for on-street residential charging across the UK, with the objective of expediting the installation of charge points in these areas.
Additionally, Vauxhall collaborated with prominent UK on-street charge-point operators, Char.gy and Connected Kerb, to assist local councils in effectively and efficiently addressing the demand for charging solutions.
Residing with an electric vehicle becomes convenient when charging facilities are available near one's home.
Char.gy is in the process of installing on-street charging points to provide individuals without driveways with easier, more affordable, and environmentally friendly charging options within a two-minute walk from their residences. All of their on-street charging points offer access to low-cost overnight charging, which coincides with the time when the UK’s electricity grid is generally at its most sustainable.
Char.gy is committed to the installation of thousands more charging points in diverse urban and rural areas throughout the UK.
Connected Kerb is a provider of electric vehicle charging solutions, dedicated to offering inclusive, reliable, and convenient charging options for all.
Their emphasis is on fast electric vehicle charging, specifically utilizing chargers ranging from 7kW to 22kW, situated in long-stay locations such as on-street residential parking and car parks.
The company facilitates on-street community electric vehicle charging by collaborating with local authorities to assist residents who do not have access to charging facilities on their driveways.
Kerbo Charge stands as the foremost provider of cross-pavement charging channels in the UK, with 36 local authorities currently testing the product and over 1,000 channels installed nationwide.
When residents wish to charge their vehicles, they simply insert their charging cable into the channel, and the specially designed lid closes behind it, functioning like a zipper. This design removes the need for unsightly cables that can create trip hazards for pedestrians on footpaths.
The Kerbo Charge home EV charging channel, produced in Derbyshire and endorsed by Deborah Meaden from Dragon's Den, is distinctive in the market as it can adapt to the pavement's surface during installation. .
