SLM Toyota Norwich visits Nelson’s Journey for first time since COVID hit to deliver donation cheque

SLM Toyota have worked hard through 2021 raising funds for charity Nelson’s Journey, so it was with delight that for the first time since COVID hit that we were able to personally deliver a cheque to the committed staff at the charity this October.

  • Nelson’s Journey are a wonderful charity based in Norfolk that are committed to providing support and advice to young people who have experienced the loss of significant and important people in their life. In fact, they are the only charity in Norfolk that do this on an open referral basis. Throughout 2020 and the COVID pandemic, this service has been crucial due to COVID and non-COVID related deaths, and an increase in suicides.

That’s why our team at SLM Toyota were over the moon to visit the Nelson’s Journey team at Smiles House this October to personally deliver a cheque for £635, raised during the summer. What made this visit even more special is that this visit was the first we’ve been able to make since COVID hit.

We raise funds for Nelson’s Journey by donating £1 every time we sell a new or used car at our East Anglian based Toyota Centres. Since we began our own journey with the charity in 2018, we have so far raised over £8,500.

Humbled by our visit, Gary Stevens, Funding & Marketing Manager at Nelson’s Journey said: “Thank you so much again for your continued support, the latest generous donation from your quarter sales will enable us to continue work with Norfolk’s bereaved children and help with our first therapeutic activity weekend at Hilltop this November. This will be the first one we have been able to do in over 18 months.”
