Saw a car I liked online at SLM Select Hastings, phoned up and spoke to David. Told him the car I was interested in and he arranged for me to come and have a test drive. When I arrived David was there to meet me and after having a good look round the car, he took my details, gave me the key and I was off. After 2 or 3 minutes I knew this was this was the car for me. When I got back, sat down with Dave to sort out a deal. At no time did Dave put me under any pressure to buy the car. Deal done, deposit left, would pick up later in the week. When I picked the car up, it was spotless inside and out, mot and service done. David couldn't do enough for me and made sure I was happy with the car before he let me go. Thanks for your help Dave and SLM for a good quality car.

My experience of SLM Select has been excellent. SALES: When I first showed an interest in a vehicle David Siddle immediately sent me a video of the car a nice touch. We met face to face a few days later. He acted professionally throughout the process and even picked me up at the station when I collected the car. AFTER-SALES: My car was only 2 days out of the showroom when a warning light went on the dash. I took the vehicle to my local Mercedes dealership and paid for a diagnostics check to see what the issue was. I met the chief mechanic there who said to me that I had made a great purchase. He had undertaken a full check on the vehicle (brakes, tyres, engine etc) and this gave me great comfort. I phoned SLM about the warning light issue and they immediately arranged for my vehicle to be collected from my home (over an hours drive from the dealership) and a courtesy car was left for me in the interim. My car was repaired at an authorised Mercedes dealership under the SLM warranty and returned to me in perfect working order and at no additional charge. Callum in after-sales updated me daily right up to delivery. MANAGEMENT: Russell the general manager at SLM had me on an email loop wih sales, after-sales and himself throughout, which I thought was excellent as everyone knew what everyone else was doing end to end. SUMMARY: An excellent experience with a long-established dealer. I would wholeheartedly recommend them based on my first-hand experience. (June 2026).

We bought the car on May 22, 2026, and paid for it in full. However, we didn’t actually get the car until June 2 because some work needed to be done on it. But as it turned out, the very next day after picking it up, we noticed that the AC hadn't been refilled, even though that had been agreed upon. A couple of days later, we took the car to our mechanic. He hooked it up to the computer for a diagnostic check and immediately found an error code. I called them, explained everything, and we agreed on a fix. Plus, the cigarette lighter wasn't working either. I called and sent an email—basically, I covered all the basesThen I drove over, left the car, and showed them the exact error my mechanic had pointed out. All they did was fix the cigarette lighter; they didn't refill the AC. Instead, they said it would probably have to be done under warranty. I don't get why it should be a warranty issue when it was supposed to be filled from the start as agreed. I even have a video report they sent me detailing what they were going to do to the car, which explicitly mentions that the AC was supposed to be filled. Nobody filled it. Now we have to wait for the warranty department to reply whether they’ll cover it or notOn top of that, I pointed out the error code my mechanic found during the diagnostics. All they did was clear the code, drive around a bit, and say it hadn't come back. How can they just say "it hasn't come back" when it was clearly there in the first place? What’s the point of that kind of "fixjust clearing the code from the computer? That’s not how it works; you're supposed to actually repair the issue from the start.

In this case, after conducting their assessment and road test of the vehicle, no active fault was identified at that time. We also understand that the team addressed the cigarette lighter concern during your visit and regret that the outstanding air conditioning matter has affected your overall impression of our service. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and the team remain committed to working with you to resolve any outstanding concerns. We spoke to David Siddle about a car that had just gone on the website and hadn’t had any prep done yet. He sent us a video shortly after our first conversation. As we couldn’t get there until the weekend, David advised us to reserve the car and he would take it off the website, the car was prepared before we visited and it was ready for us to view and test drive when we arrived. David gave us all the time we needed to look at the car and was able to answer all the question we had. We collected the car a week later and as promise it had a new MOT and service done. Overall, David was friendly, knowledgeable and professional throughout and made it a great experience and we would recommend it family and friends.

Really pleased with my purchase! The guys were very nice. The test drive is a little short, but I knew what car I wanted. I've had it now a couple of months and no issues at all. They gave me a good price for my trade in, too, for which I was very grateful. Plus they prepared the car really well. Definitely recommend.

Purchased our first car recently with SLM. Cannot fault the service we have been provided. Dave was a superstar throughout. He welcomed us on our first visit, took us for a tour explaining the options to us. We booked in a test drive for same week. He was never pushy, just very informative and friendly. When we came to purchasing the car, he went above and beyond to get the service and MOT done within short timeframe to allow us to use the car that weekend. Very good experience buying a used car here from sales consultant Jack. The car was in great condition. All my questions were answered helpfully and after buying the car I was still able to access help from the team around minor queries that came up. The warranty and MOT upon purchase which were included in the price gave me peace of mind as well. Thank you

*Stay Clear of SLM Motors and David SiddleHere is the review you was after Mr David! If I could give this dealership zero stars, I would! Management previously had the audacity to ask me to alter my review because it was "too personal." Well, after your latest stunt, absolutely not. Prospective buyers need to know exactly who they are dealing with. I had a terrible experience purchasing a car from SLM Motors a couple of months ago, and I strongly advise anyone considering buying from them to look elsewhere. From the moment I drove off the lot, it has been nothing but drama and frustration, primarily due to the dishonesty and unprofessionalism of David Siddle. When I bought the car, David assured me that it had £600 worth of work done, including a service. However, shortly after, I experienced a breakdown and had to call the RAC for assistance. After taking the car to a mechanic, I discovered that the DPF filter might be clogged. To top it all off, my oil life is at just 10%, but they claim it doesn’t need a service. I had a service booked for Thursday, only for them to cancel it at the last minute—completely messing up my work and holiday plans! I have tried contacting SLM Motors multiple times, but I was passed around like a hot potato without any resolution. No one seems to care about helping customers. When I visited the dealership in person, I was met with indifference from the staff. The management from David and his team is a joke Let’s not even get started on the paintwork. I was promised a full valet and polish, but it looks like a child did the polishing—smeared and hazy. I’ve been quoted over £300 to fix that mess! If you’re considering buying a car from SLM Motors, save your money and go elsewhere. You deserve a dealership that prioritizes customer service over lining their own pockets with commission.aka David siddle . He doesn't want to know anything now he's lined he's pockets with my cash!! Avoid SLM Motors at all costs! I have now had the RAC out twice They took the car back on Thursday to resolve the issue,you actually had the audacity to brag to me assuring me, "Don't worry, there's nothing my Ford mechanic can't fix, That 9 years of experience must have flown out the window, but it was completely misplaced. The mechanic failed to even install a basic fuel filter correctly. A hose popped completely off because it hadn't been clicked into place properly, resulting in a severe fuel leak. I lost an excessive amount of diesel just filling it up to brim day before ,Its all over the road and on my driveway ! What is completely stained costing me more time and money having to try and clean this up! because off your incompetent mechanic! That couldn't do a simple job off clicking in the hose properly!! Appalling workmanship and a total lack of care. The car has gone back for 3rd time now as they never provide me a valet again and they have finally done it! TAKE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY AND TIME ELSEWHERE. Go to a reputable dealership that actually values customer safety and service, rather than one that feeds you lies just to line their pockets.

Through our understanding, the vehicle supplied was serviced in August 2025 and, in line with the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule, was not due another service until August 2027. We also understand that the team provided a full invoice detailing the preparation work carried out to the vehicle prior to sale, which totalled in excess of £600. At no stage was the vehicle overdue a service or requiring one before August 2027. We are also sorry to hear of your concerns regarding the vehicle’s paintwork. We understand that the vehicle was handed over two months ago and, prior to this review, we had not received any correspondence raising dissatisfaction in this area. Had this been brought to our attention at the time, we would have welcomed the opportunity to discuss it with you directly. Tom was fantastic. Sorted the outstanding finance for my Tiguan. Easy smooth sale for the Porsche we bought, and has been super helpful throughout the whole journey. Was definitely worth the trip 320mile round trip.

Always had my nissan vans looked after here, and just had my wife's glc serviced and suspension bushes done today all good was much better n cheaper than mercedes eastbourne

Got an MOT and service done by SLM, after buying the car from them 11 months ago for £4k. Bill was going to come in over £800. I took it to another garage and they reckon 3 of the 4 major defects were incorrectly assessedNearside Headlamp levelling device inoperativeit failed for this when SLM purchased the car and was 'fixed' and 'passed' before they sold it to me. The car then fails on this again 11 months later, that's a bit odd right? SLM told me it needed replacing at an insane cost, the other garage said the component had just slipped off, 10 second fix, no charge. Central Upper Stop lamp(s) not working - SLM wanted £300+ to fix it. Turns out the car should not have failed on this as the central upper stop lamp is an additional. See image attached for reference to the MOT inspection manual. Other garage put this down as an advisory, not a major. Final major - Offside Front Outer Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot split. SLM fixed this before I authorised the £100 fee to investigate the other issues. You live and learn, I should have got them to investigate all issues and assess the total cost. Total estimated bill with SLM was going to come in at over £800. I had to pay them £430 for the service, MOT, Drive shaft joint boot repair and other assessments. In hindsight I should have just gone to Anchor Service by the ridge. Just saved myself £400. I would give 5 stars to Ed, he's a legend and I've got no issue with the staff. I have an issue with the inflated cost and SLM's profit-driven interpretation of the MOT inspection manual. Go elsewhere.

Callum and Russell looked after me very well with a recent knocking noise on my Mokka. They arranged for it to be covered under the warranty that was supplied when I purchased the car in February. Nice hot coffee too!

Recently decided It was time for a new car as my old one was giving up on me, Decided to go SLM on a Friday without an appointment and Ian Dye greeted me and was happy to show me a few cars I was interested in. Had everything explained to me and any questions answered about a car I liked, test drove It and it was perfect so I bought the car and picked it up the following Friday I couldn't of asked for a better experience. First time using this garage for a service and MOT, and I was really impressed. Ed was very friendly and helpful as needed some work to pas, everything was sorted ready for me to collect at lunchtime earlier than expected. Really easy hassle-free experience. Thanks guys!

After a bad experience with a previous car dealer, I can honestly say this was not the case here. Great communication, availability for test driving and they were so quick to get the car serviced and MOT’d. Three days after testing the car, we are driving round in our snazzy HondaBig thanks to all the team, especially Tom! Definitely recommend.

Well, what can we say about this company in St Leonards except that it was a great experience. From the time we met David Siddle we bought a car through him and asked for a couple of things to be sorted, before deciding to go ahead. These he agreed to without question and he was always very friendly with a great sense of humour, yet so professional throughout the process. Hopefully things will continue this way and we can only recommend using them. No sales pressure gimmicks and very willing to help and advise. Excellent service, thank you David.
