Recently decided It was time for a new car as my old one was giving up on me, Decided to go SLM on a Friday without an appointment and Ian Dye greeted me and was happy to show me a few cars I was interested in. Had everything explained to me and any questions answered about a car I liked, test drove It and it was perfect so I bought the car and picked it up the following Friday I couldn't of asked for a better experience. After a bad experience with a previous car dealer, I can honestly say this was not the case here. Great communication, availability for test driving and they were so quick to get the car serviced and MOT’d. Three days after testing the car, we are driving round in our snazzy Honda :) Big thanks to all the team, especially Tom! Definitely recommend.

Well, what can we say about this company in St Leonards except that it was a great experience. From the time we met David Siddle we bought a car through him and asked for a couple of things to be sorted, before deciding to go ahead. These he agreed to without question and he was always very friendly with a great sense of humour, yet so professional throughout the process. Had a really straightforward positive experience buying our new car at SLM. Ian was very friendly and approachable and was open to any questions we had. We actually fell in love with a car that wasn’t even “in stock” yet and he went above and beyond to ensure we could explore that car as an option. Was a pleasure to deal with Tom Larkin at SLM. From start to finish I had excellent service from him. Prior to us visiting to view the car he sent 2 detailed videos of the interior and exterior of the car, which were really helpful as we didn't live locally. There was no pushy sales from him, which is always off putting, he just gave me the details I needed, answered all of the questions I had and explained all of the add ons that were available. On the day I came to collect my car he even came to collect me from the train station, which was much appreciated. Excellent communication throughout the process. I would thoroughly recommend him if you are looking for a new car.

Had a great experience doing a part exchange with Jack at SLM. We called to ask a few questions about a vehicle and he was incredibly helpful. Due to schedules we were unable to test the car within the reserve period so Jack removed it from the website which gave me some piece of mind. The car was ready to go at the door when we came for a test drive and we were under no pressure with time or to buy. Initially, we weren't planning to do a part exchange as the original vehicle is not one they would sell but Jack said to bring it along and they'd have a look and see what they could do. They took it on and we used the value to get another years warranty on the new one. Jack provided great service and explained everything clearly and was always around if we had any questions. The sale of the vehicle was quick and smooth. Vehicle then went for a new MOT, service and polish as we commented on a few scuff marks on the bodywork. Due to an injury, I was unable to collect the car so Jack kindly drove 45 minutes to deliver it and take the old one. Jack then contacted me a week later to see how everything was going and to contact him if I ever had any issues or questions. Overall, an easy and great experience and a great value car.

My wife and I recently purchased a Ford Puma with the help of David Siddle. David was brilliant from start to finish - going out in the rain to film a video of the car when I first called him, and offering us a lift from the railway station when we arrived for the test-drive and pickup. He was friendly and good humoured all the way through, and clearly knows his job very well. We felt in safe hands throughout, there was no hint of a hard sell - he seemed to just want us to be happy with our choices, which we absolutely are. The handover was delightful too, as the team ensured the car was in great shape and there was a nice welcome message waiting for us. You're in safe hands with this company and with David in particular. Canny good!

I recently bought a car off the team at SLM select, right from the 1st phone call until I signed for the keys Tom went out of his way to make the whole process run smoothly. Living in Northern Ireland I was unable to see the car in person Tom sent detailed videos of the car answering any questions I had. When I arrived to pick the car up he had everything ready making the handover an easy 15 min process. I would have no problem recommending Tom and SLM select. Definitely a 5 Star experience 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Ian provided excellent customer service. From walking onto the forecourt to driving away took less than 24 hours, and he made the entire experience smooth and hassle-free. He was professional throughout, helped with gap insurance and road tax, and ensured the car was spotless on collection. He even followed up a few days later with a phone call to check we were happy. I’d highly recommend coming here - and asking for Ian if he’s available.

The iX3 was quite a big investment, for myself anyhow, so lots of checks. Thankfully Ian was understanding and he made the collection process pretty smooth and pleasant, even helping to get the road tax admin sorted and picking me up from the station on what was a very LONG trip due to rail cancellations. The car was in a really good state although a polish would have been nice as coming into winter. They did however replace the front tyres which came up on prevoius MOT advisory. I'd highly recommend this garage for peace of mind.

SLM Select were fantastic to work with! I recently purchased a Honda with them to which is my first, 'proper' car. It was a very important decision given the money I was investing. Upon viewing the car, there was some work that needed carrying out before I'd consider making a full purchase. Ian was the representative I was liasing with at the time to whom was thorough and clear in terms of how the process works and the expectations that had been set. A week later, the car was repaired up to standard and in line with what had been discussed. Ian did a fantastic job at managing this and was very easy to speak to, especially during a busy time for the dealership. Like the team, Ian was approachable, kind and supportive in my new purchase and I'm very grateful for his help.

We just purchased a Mini from here and dealt with Jack. He was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable which put my daughter at ease at it was her first car. I have just purchased a Renault Clio from SLM Select. I am so pleased .The staff whoever you spoke to were friendly helpful and knowledgeable not pushy or overbearing . My car is great when I went out for a test run .. I was very nervous as I hadn't changed my car for a good few years.. but was put at ease with the patience from John. He was great a really nice person couldn't fault him or in fact the whole process of the purchase... was made up with the fact he sorted out all my tax online and the documentation for ownership of the car for me. He also paired my phone and my husbands to my car and went through all I needed to know about how the key card worked and many other things. I would thoroughly recommend purchasing from SLM Select they were absolutely great!

I recently bought a Nissan Qashqai from SLM, and I have to say, it was a great experience! Our salesman, David, was such a pleasure to deal with. Recently purchased a 67 plate Renault. Happy its comes with 6 months warranty. Car is absolutely lovely to drive. Found the whole experience pain free and staff on hand were great. I can’t thank David enough for making a difficult time so much easier. After my cherished car that my late father helped me purchase, was sadly written off in August, I was devastated. I’d only had it for two years, and I knew finding the same colour and model again would be a challenge. I searched daily, and eventually, one popped up. Same spec, same engine, same colour! The only catch? It was 340 miles away, on the other side of the country. I called to enquire and was lucky enough to speak to David. He was calm, patient, and genuinely helpful. Just bought a BMW X3 from SLM in St Leonards . I have bought many cars in my time but this was one of the standout experiences. David Siddle is a people person and couldn't do enough for us . He made the tedious form filling fly past and turned the whole sale from test drive to ownership in 24 hours.Top marks !

I brought my new car 2 weeks ago and it has been a great stress free experience. Ian showed me the car and was very helpful. Recently purchased a car from SLM select in Hastings, amazing communication, quick responses and high levels of patience while I had to sort out things such as insurance. Car was spotless when I picked it up and had a full health check so ran amazingly. While first driving around in the car had a couple questions about some things and when returning to the dealership about it they were able to clear any confusion I had.

Fantastic service from start to finish! I had originally planned on just researching for a 1st car for my son. David was absolutely brilliant, and so patient with my son getting in and out of cars to see what he fitted in as he's 6'7, so a lot of the standard first cars were too small for him.....then he showed us the quashqai and I instantly knew I wanted it. He talked me through all the options available, answered all my questions and was just so incredibly patient with both myself and my son and made everything so easy and straightforward. I would absolutely recommend SLM and specifically David to anyone, without any hesitation what so ever.

From the first call to reserve my car Dave Siddle has been amazing. He has answered all the questions I’ve had, took a video of the vehicle before my visit and got the car ready to collect in 4 days. He explained all the different services available and didn’t put me under any pressure to take any. On the day of collection Stuart had made sure the car was looking its very best with a huge yellow bow on it and a personalised welcome back sign. It was lovely to be made to feel so special. I was initially worried about buying a car from SLM as there are some historic complaints. However the car I bought was very rare to find and SLM had one of the few examples in the UK. However I really cannot fault the service and responsiveness I received. I contacted Tom in sales when it was first advertised and he gave me clear feedback on my questions. He then sent me a video of the car as I live 2 hours away and couldn't just pop over to view. They then checked a couple of areas where common faults occur for me and confirmed there were no issues. I agreed to buy the car and we confirmed a collection date. I asked for the removal of some cosmetic modifications made by the previous owner which they agreed to. They also refurbished two of the alloy wheels which I didn't expect them to do and was much appreciated. The day before collection date I received another video of the freshly valetted car and it looked wonderful. I picked it up the next day and all the paperwork was completed in less than 30 minutes. I really cannot think of anything more they could have done and I'm very pleased with my car and buying process. A big thank you to Tom and the many behind the scenes members of the SLM Team who prepared the car. Great job!

Fantastic experience buying my dream car from SLM select last week. Jack has been extremely helpful right through the process and providing video and photos of the car was no issue at all. I live in the Inverness area so buying a car remotely can be a scary process. The hand over was very smooth and all details about the car were very well explained. No problem, David did an extensive walk around video , he was very honest and reassuring and gave me 100% confidence to move forward with the purchase. SLM was recommended to me by my sister who has purchased two cars previously. I visited the site on BH Monday, we were immediately impressed with the site and available cars … having wandered around the cars at our leisure , we had been immediately acknowledged by David, salesman who just offered to be available for any questions, advice etc. we did not feel pressured in anyway. Once I had demonstrated an active interest in a vehicle David made sure it was opened & accessible to me, again he was available and attentive without being pushy in anyway. David was able to sort out a test drive as soon as requested and allowed me to give the car a good test. The whole time David was polite, funny and informative had a real skill in being able to match the level of interest and enthusiasm that I was demonstrating. Once I made the decision to proceed with the purchase I landed him with my timescale of needing a very tight turnaround of three days to pick the car up. David arranged this including arranging the full health check, MOT, service and additions I requested like little bits and pieces to be addressed. I understand he persuaded a Service team member (Reece) to ‘stay late’ in order to meet my tight timeframe. I cannot praise David and the Team enough for their attention to detail and ability to be professional at the same time as managing expectations and a not very easy customer (my timeframe). I would, and have, already recommended SLM to a friend based on my experience Easter Monday 2025. Thank you David and the wider Team for an exceptional service and experience.

SLM had just come into possession of the car I wanted (no pics online), they were kind enough to send a video for me to view and put an extended reserve on it until I get there to test drive. Mainly dealt with David, who was helpful, transparent and made the process really easy and smooth. Appreciated the lift from the train station to collect the car. Would recommend.

Having had our car written off we needed to get a new one and quick. There was loads of choice here but no pressure to buy. Very happy with my purchase. Bought it over a month ago now and still so happy. Jack was really helpful from the beginning, I enquired online about previous owners. And Jack promptly responded and additionally sent a personalized video of the whole car. I didn't actually expect this, but upon seeing the video made me extremely interested as it looked much better in the videos then in photos, so this was a lovely idea! When I went to test drive, I had plenty of freedom and space to think about purchasing without any pressure. Jack gave my dad and I space to discuss. And the purchasing part was very straightforward and smooth. He called to check in I was okay once I had the car on the road. A very trustworthy and reliable company. Worth the drive. This was my first time ever making a big purchase/ finance. I was extremely nervous and unsure but Jack was AMAZING!! He couldn't do enough for me. Reassured me on everything i was nervous about and was available whenever i needed to ask a silly question. I had an emotional connection with the car that i wanted to part exchange as it was my late grandmas and he didn't make me feel silly for that either. Highly recommend! Turned up on a Sunday afternoon to have a browse and test drive a potential car. Mark was super helpful and also managed to give me a quote to part-ex my old car. First time dealing with SLM Select, I HATE buying cars, spoke to David about a car id spotted online and he took all of the pressure off. No pressured selling no pushy selling at all. He had everything ready to go for me before I'd arrived. Test drove the car and loved it within 10mins Car comes with 12m warranty, one key but SLM have sorted a second for free. SLM and especially Jack, made buying a new car and part-exchanging my old one, a really straightforward experience. Jack was great - helped me decide which car would be best for me, negotiated a good price for my trade-in, and arranged to have the new car completely cleaned and checked ready for collection. Jack very efficiently went through documentation at our collection appointment, explained everything, did the necessary online form-filling etc, didn't push me to buy extras and waved me off in my lovely new car. I felt no pressure into buying and felt like they were genuine and of course a great deal of knowledge on any particular car. I would give a thumbs up for them. .

He was good at finding us the right car for our needs, and made the trading of our old car to our new one so pain free. The car was in excellent condition, really clean and they were transparent about a battery issue they discovered on the morning of our pick up. And replaced the battery without needing to be asked. Fantastic team, don’t pressure you to buy extras. Thanks to everyone, especially Jack.

I part exchanged my old car to purchase a 2016 Golf SV about 7 months ago from SLM Hastings and opted for their standard 6-month warranty. Initial impressions were good as I paid a nominal amount to reserve the car online and a salesperson promptly got in touch with a video. I also filled in an online form to get a Part Ex value for my old car. (I think there were 3 grades you could select and I picked the lowest, which if anything my car wasn't as bad as the lowest description e.g. it would pass an MOT but admittedly was still old and a bit battered). Anyway, I arranged a Saturday to drive down and see the car (I traveled about 180 miles). I liked the car but on the test drive a glow plug light came on but as it was a Saturday there were no mechanics on site to see to it. I had a few options at this point e.g. come back next week once they look at it, walk away etc, but as I live so far away I was assured they'd pay for it as it would be under warranty and they gave me this assurance in writing (via email) - perhaps I was being naive at this point. When proceeding to Part Ex my old car, they didn't honour the price their online system gave me as they said they couldn't sell it on and it would have to go to auction at a loss otherwise. I didn't see this as being my problem and think they should update their system especially when people grade their cars low where the grading criteria is barely drivable and my old car drove fine. I also couldn't get them down on the price of the Golf as they knew they'd have to reimburse the cost of repair but they did put in a full tank. Just before I drove away I noticed the fuel cap was slightly ajar and the fuel door locking actuator was broken (it wouldn't close properly or lock). This really did annoy me as they 100% would have known this as they just filled it up and we're prepared to let me drive off with it had I not raised it. So back in the office I went with the sales person who gave it to me in writing that they'd pay for that too. I drove home fine and took the car to a local garage who strongly advised me to return the car rather than repair but persuaded them to fix the issues. They found a few more minor issues too which I didn't spot such as the door check straps (this would have been an easy fix for SLMs mechanics, so why SLM didn't fix it I don't know). Luckily it was just a faulty sensor as I suspected with the glow plug light. After about 1 week, SLM did pay the full cost of repairs directly to the garage. Overall I am very happy with my car and they did rectify the issues but it was a bit of hassle, so I think 4 stars is more than fair.

Between my wife and I we have had nine cars from here over the past 10 years or so and normally purchase two cars each time and we wouldn't go anywhere else, the service from the sales staff is excellent there is never the feeling of being forced into anything or pushed to purchase any extra packages, when ever we visit the sales or service team we are always greeted with a smile. If there are ever any issues which are rare they are always sorted out asap.

I’ve just bought a Ford Fiesta ST from this garage, and I’m over the moon with it. David Siddle was a pleasure to deal with. He appreciated that I would be travelling 500 miles for the car, and was completely honest about it prior to me seeing it in person. He also went the extra mile and collected me from a nearby train station on the day of purchase. Happy customer!

I had an issue with my car after sliding on some black ice and needed to have it looked at. I took it to SLM where Glynn was very helpful and talked me through the issue clearly. The part needed was ordered and fitted quickly, and they also managed to save me a lot of money, which I'm incredibly thankful for. If I have any issues with my car in the future, I'll be sure to take it to SLM again

Great experience on behalf of the car dealer. Even when the financing company kept changing the narrative, and shifting blame between myself and the car stand due to documentation, David always kept me informed, reassured me that everything would be done on time. If it hadn't been for him, I would probably have called it off past a couple of days due to the financing company's continued troubles. The car is in great condition, everything was as supposed to be and home delivery was quickly arranged (because I couldn't get the vehicle). Would recommend

We just bought a car from these guys for my wife. Got to say the quality of the stock is really good and pricing is really fair I think. We dealt with Tom and what a good guy he is. Helpful, informative, friendly. Not the usual pushy salesman you get in some places..... which actually makes me walk away before I even look usually. He was really helpful and communication was great. Even went the extra mile for us with reference to collection etc. Next time we need a car, I will definitely Tom my first place to try for sure. Fantastic genuine lovely people. We needed a new family car as we were going up to Wales, Jack was exceptional he talked us through everything that was happening and was going to happen, there was no pressure to purchase right then and there. All around Jack is a really lovely down to earth bloke that genuinely wants to help and find you the best car for you and a wide range of knowledge of the cars we were suggesting to him. Safe to say we found our car and it's just perfect in every way.

Very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff that are happy to go out of their way that the vehicle is right for you and they can offer a fair price for part exchange or buying a car from you. Didn't push, no pressure, just informative and on hand when needed.

I bought a car from these guys just over a month ago. I had a couple of small concerns since & have had it back to them, they fixed any issues without a grumble. They're a nice team, polite & courteous, good customer service. I would definitely use these guys again in the future. UPDATE: Following this review I had a series of things go wrong with my car - admittedly it can be difficult to tell if something is likely to go wrong with any car, however, some of the things that went wrong were things they had said they would sort out before I bought the car. I get the feeling that the used cars here aren't inspected & repaired as well as they say. I would suggest getting an AA inspection on any car you intend to purchase from this garage.

I had a brilliant experience visiting and buying a lovely car thanks to the professional approach by our sales man Jack, who allowed us to to view and examine our chosen car on our own and arranged for us to test drive providing us with insurance - very impressive stuff. Being a hybrid vehicle, we had concerns with the condition of the lithium battery cell. After consulting with Peter, his senior manager at sussex cars, Jack arranged to have the vehicle health checked at Toyota in Hastings which provided us with a pass certificate. A very pleasurable experience and have highly recommended and continue to. Look forward to doing business with you again, my family are so happy with our car!

I travelled a long way to look at a car I'd seen on their website. I wasn't disappointed, the car looked great and one of the salesmen, Tom, took the time to answer all my questions and nothing was to much trouble for him. Picked the car up the following weekend and very pleased with it. I'd use again from my experience with them so far.

Customer service was very good had a small scratch of car which they said they will sort they helped with all my questions and were very friendly, I drove my new car away the same day and helped part exchange my old one Would say only getting three months warranty isn’t great, but apart from that I wouldn’t fault them and would use again
