The SLM Group Ltd. was founded as St Leonards Motors Ltd. in 1960, by a local family, the Wakeford family. Since then, it has grown significantly in size. The sites are now located across East Anglia, Sussex, Kent, Surrey and Hampshire.  

In 2023 SLM Group acquired SMC Motor Group & Quest Motor Group which welcomed five new franchises to our portfolio: SEAT, Renault, Dacia, CUPRA and Suzuki.  Recently we have also added Alpine Store Weybridge in Surrey.

With over 60 years trading experience, SLM Group, SMC Group & Quest Motor Group pride ourselves on the excellent customer service we offer. We have a vast range of new and used vehicles across our dealerships. Furthermore, our team of manufacturer-trained technicians work with cutting-edge diagnostic and repair equipment to ensure that our customers’ cars run smoothly.

Our HR department often run campaigns to create a inclusive and open culture; the most recent being our men’s mental health campaign, encouraging our male employees to speak out and seek support from us if they are struggling.

Last year we asked our employees to collaborate with us to create our company purpose. The key messages which shone through during the process were that our staff are proud of the work they do at SLM Group Ltd., and that everyone feels valued and respected.

In our most recent employee survey;
92.8% of our employees said that they were proud of SLM Group.
The majority of our employees agree that their managers care about their wellbeing, and feel their co-workers support them .
