  • The birth of Toyota

    Founded in 1937 by Kiichiro Toyoda, Toyota is headquartered in Toyota City, Japan. The company started as a division of the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, which was founded by Kiichiro's father, Sakichi Toyoda, in 1926. The company changed its name from "Toyoda" to "Toyota" to create a distinct brand name that would be easier to pronounce and write in Japanese.

    He sadly passed away February 2023 at age 97.
