SLM Toyota Uckfield Gifts Grant To High Hurstwood Primary School

Grant to be used as part of the school's restoration project of their pond.

  • At SLM Toyota Uckfield we are pleased to hear that our grant gifted to High Hurstwood Primary School through the Toyota Fund for a Better Tomorrow, will be used as part of the school's restoration project of their pond. The cheque was presented to the school during an assembly by SLM Toyota Uckfield's general manager Simon Evinson and marketing manager Mel Ball.

"It was a wonderful occasion and we are pleased to be able to make a difference to the community project by presenting the money" - Mel Ball.

The pond at the school has been there for the past 40 years and lies next to their eco-garden that the pupils started building last year. Over the years the pond's lining has degraded, the school hopes that the restoration will enable the pond to continue to support an important aquatic habitat within the school grounds for the next 30 years.

As well as restoring the pond's habitat the school will also use the grant to purchase resources for use by the children, to build and explore the pond's habitat, including pond-dipping resources, frog/toad homes, and Aqua-scopes to allow the children to view underwater.

The aim is for the school to hold nature days with parents and the wider community to promote environmental awareness and engage in national and other local initiatives too.

The team at SLM Toyota Uckfield is really looking forward to seeing the work on the pond progress and we will be keeping in touch with the school for regular updates and photos of the work.
