Say hello to SLM Toyota Norwich's experienced new Service Advisor

Our SLM Toyota Norwich Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Service Advisor – Scott Berry – who joins us with a wealth of experience in the motor trade, and who we know will be an excellent asset to our business and our customers.

  • At SLM Toyota, we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver excellent customer experience time and time again – that's the ‘bread and butter’ that keeps our wonderful customers coming back to us. To maintain this, we don’t just need to employ keen new talent that are starting out on their career, but also experienced automotive athletes that remind us what excellence really looks like, and sets an example for the others.

    At our Norwich Toyota Centre, we have the joy of welcoming one of these ‘automotive athletes’ to our team – enter Scott Berry, our new Service Advisor.

    Scott brings 15 years of motoring experience to us, having explored the various roles in his career to date, including a Parts Van Driver, Parts Advisor, Technician, a Service Advisor and at one point even Head Valeter at a vehicle rental company. This combination of front line and behind the scenes knowledge, makes Scott the ideal profile for the Service Advisor role.

    Scott comments on the start of his career and how he first entered the motoring industry, saying “I worked at the independent parts supplier APD (Automotive Parts Distribution) starting as a van driver, which is where I first became interested in other departments. Seeing the appeal of customer facing responsibility, I moved quickly into a parts advisor role.”

    However, it wasn’t too long before Scott felt the yearn to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes: “I then got an offer for an apprenticeship at an independent garage where I completed this and worked as a technician...”

    Having pursued that path, and completing his apprenticeship, Scott realised that his passion was helping customers first hand, and imparting the knowledge he’d gained on his journey: “...but as I enjoy customer-relation based roles, I decided that a Service Advisor role was more suitable for me. None the less, my technician training and experience was definitely a good stepping stone and has provided me with knowledge required to effectively help customers with their needs, and can potentially save time with Technicians stepping away from jobs if explanations are required.”

  • In his spare time, Scott enjoys an eclectic mix of hobbies: “I do have quite a few hobbies, which range from socialising with friends and family, fishing, to my slightly unique hobby of breeding mini lop and angora rabbits... yes you read it right!! I currently have 12 of my own rabbits, one being a giant continental at only 14 weeks old. I also enjoy my dog’s company, a Staffordshire bull terrier who I have had for 10 years, and who I consider a big part of my family.”

    Having only been with us a short while, already Scott is settling into his role well. Darren, our Norwich Centre Service Manager says: “Scott has fitted into the service department really well, and is already considered a valued member of the team. He's an extremely likeable and approachable chap who communicates well with customers and quickly builds a rapport with them. It's a pleasure to have him on the team!"
