Rye Community Garden Q4 Update

SLM Toyota Hastings have received an update from Rye Community Garden's progress.

  • Last year we presented Rye Community Garden with a cheque for £2,000 to help them update the area. The grant was thanks to Toyota GB's Fund For A Better Tomorrow scheme, which gives dealerships the opportunity to support worthy local charities.

Since our last update, the compost toilet has been installed so now everyone who visits the garden can access them. The access path is also set to undergo a transformation soon.

Garden Co-ordinator, Anna Pole, has made amazing progress with the area's vegetable garden/cultivation patch with a whole host of greens growing away including courgettes, cucumber and runner beans. Other areas of the garden include a beautiful perennial flower bed and Tree Circle, which was first planted in 2016 and has since become a stunning feature.

Looking forward into Q4, plans for the garden include prepartory work for the new all-weather path, installation of a picket fence on the entrance slope, a wood-chip covering for the vegetable garden walkways and tree, hedge and willow management.

Everyone at SLM Toyota is looking forward to seeing the garden's progress as we near the end of 2019. We are extremely pleased to have been able to help with such a brilliant project that will benefit everyone in the local community.
