Here at SLM Toyota, we are proud to announce that our IT Manager Chris Wakeford has started a new role as a Trainee Customer Consultant.
Chris has worked for SLM for 8 years successfully running all the IT systems in the group. With such a history with the company, Chris decided he would like to understand how the business is run by learning each aspect of the business.
“We spoke together and looked at what opportunities we could offer. Toyota run a programme for new starters in the Motor Trade called the Trainee customer Consultant programme, this would allow Chris to experience all areas of the business and how they work. Once completed Chris will then be able to select the area of expertise he would like to specialise in within the business.”

Chris stated “I have been around the motor trade all of my life with my family connections to the business however I have only very recently moved into a selling role. I started working for the company in 2010 where I took on the role of looking after the IT for the group. This included all computers, all servers, all CCTV and all phone systems. In this time, I was directly involved in changing some of our major computer systems. In 2017 I was made the IT manager for the group”.
“I have moved roles to learn more about in intricate workings of the motor trade. I am on a training course set out by Toyota called Trainee Customer Consultant. This gives me experience in sales, service and parts making it the perfect course to learn all aspects of the motor trade.
“I love working for Toyota due to their true passion and belief in their products and their way of working. They are a company with a mentality I think we all should strive for. I personally love the ALL New Toyota Corolla with its modern stylish looks, outstanding economy and its sports driving style” Chris continued.
