Four debuts for Vauxhall at Geneva
  • “At this year’s Geneva motor show, Vauxhall made four world premieres,” reports MotorTorque, which has a round-up of all the Vauxhall action. First, the Vauxhall Cascada made its debut appearance. The “full-size, four-seat convertible” is available as of April and will be available in two trims. “In addition, the Cascada will come with a range of powerful and efficient engines under the hood, including a 1.4-litre Turbo petrol, a 2.0-litre diesel and an all-new 1.6 SIDI Turbo ECOTEC petrol engine.” “Also wowing the crowd was the ADAM Rocks concept, an urban mini-crossover that Vauxhall hopes could open a new segment in the market. “When compared with the production version of the original ADAM, the ROCKS concept is taller, wider, tougher and yet more compact in appearance, whilst also offering a cabrio roof.” There was a second ADAM concept on hand as well, the R2. “A Rally Cup variant of the fashionable city car” it marks Opel’s official return to motorsport. “Built to FIA R2 regulations, it’s powered by a 1.6-litre 16V engine, with variable camshaft phasing able to produce 185PS and maximum torque of about 190NM.” Finally, the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer and its new BiTurbo diesel engine made its show debut. The new, “cutting-edge” powertrain is the “cleanest diesel engine” produced by Vauxhall. “The engine is both strong and powerful, able to deliver 136PS and 320Nm of torque, whilst also offering outstanding fuel efficiency of 68.9mpg combined and 109g/km of CO2.”
