Vauxhall Adam S Wows at Paris Motor Show

  • “The Vauxhall ADAM is about to get a little hotter,” says Auto Express after viewing the new S model at the Paris Motor Show. The turbocharged 1.4-litre “flagship”, which goes on sale in the UK in January, “boasts styling tweaks, a specially tuned chassis and a VXR braking system”. Generating 148bhp and 220Nm of torque, the Adam S sees off 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds and hits a 124mph top speed. But Vauxhall has also “boosted efficiency” by fitting stop-start tech and “cutting as much weight as possible”, leading to 44.1mpg fuel economy and 149g/km of CO2 emissions. The S “stands out” thanks to the fitting of a front lip spoiler, remoulded side sills and extended rear bumper “for a more muscular overall look”. “If that all passes unnoticed, the enlarged, bootlid-mounted rear spoiler and Adam S logos on the floating C-pillars should clear things up. “On the personalisation front there’s a choice of 10 paint schemes and four roof colour combinations, including a ‘Red ’n’ Roll’ design exclusive to the Adam S. Inside, four different seat arrangements are on offer, three unique to the S, such as Recaro Performance seats upholstered in Morrocana or Nappa leather. An optional leather pack adds a black and red leather trim to the steering wheel, gearknob and handbrake, and red and white lighting for the dash and doors.”
