St Leonards Motors Vauxhall raced to 1st place in the final of the National Network Q Karting Championships, recently held at the Daytona track in Milton Keynes. The team of Dave Kent finishing in 3rd place, Dean Clarke finishing in 7th place and Ian Wood finishing in 13th place showed some great kart driving skills in a field of 27 drivers. Joshua Chapman who helped the team win the regional round couldn’t make the final, so Ian volunteered to take his place proving to be a great addition to the team. On a grey, but thankfully dry day, all 27 drivers raced flat out for 10 minutes to post their best qualifying lap, which in turn set their position on the starting grid. All 27 drivers then raced non-stop for 40 minutes, with their individual finishing places giving the result overall for the team, in what was a really exciting and competitive race. With all 3 SLM drivers in the top half of the finishers, it showed their dominance over the other 9 teams. Each member of the team was presented with a trophy at the track, with the main team prize being presented at the after race meal by Network Q Director Derek Wilson. Everyone at the dealership would like to say a huge congratulations to them all!
