SLM Toyota support local Charity Ball
  • St Michael’s Hospice Silver Anniversary Ball 1st September at Vinehall School, Robertsbridge Over 200 people, including the High Sherriff of East Sussex, Mr David Allam and his wife Mrs Karen Allam, gathered on a warm September evening for our black tie Silver Anniversary Ball, sponsored by Jon Ray Building Ltd. Held in a stunning marquee at Vinehall School, the evening kicked off with a sparkling reception serving Chapel Down Winery’s award winning Vintage Reserve Brut, accompanied by jazz quartet the New Orleans Echoes. Guests then went on to enjoy a three course dinner of asparagus tips with pancetta, followed by pine forest-scented lamb noisettes and finishing with delicious bites from the Assiette a Desserts. Magician Terry Brewer kept our attendees guessing and entertained. The Main Auction, conducted by Will Richards, Deputy Chairman of Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctioneers, included fabulous prizes of a long weekend in a privately owned Manhattan apartment, a Matisse lithograph, signed and limited edition of Sir Paul McCartney’s ‘RAM’, champagne hot air balloon ride and a Toyota GT86 for the weekend, supplied by SLM Toyota in Hastings, to name but a few. Live band ‘Xtatic’ filled the floor with movers and shakers and a great time was had by all, with several guests rather reluctant to leave at 1am! The Luxury Raffle’s first prize was a beautiful rhodelite garnet necklace with praisalite pendant set in 18 ct gold, made by Jeweller Alice Robson and worth over £1,000. We are delighted to have raised in excess of £30,000 from this special evening of celebration and would like to thank all of our guests for joining us to create such a fantastic atmosphere. We’re indebted to everyone involved, from our volunteers on the evening who gave up their time to help through to those who have donated prizes – thank you. A huge thank you must also go to Sally, Jon and Chris, of Jon Ray Building Ltd for their support and sponsorship of the Ball. A truly amazing and extremely generous gesture for St Michael’s Hospice from this local and well-established family company. Our final word comes from Sally Ray, Sponsor and Ball Committee member: ‘....it has been such an honour to have been involved with this event, both as a sponsor and as a committee member. The hospice provides a wonderful service to our area and we are so grateful for everything they have done for our family.’ Jane Tritton Ball Organiser
