Last year we presented Rye Community Garden with a cheque for £2,000 to help them update the area. The grant was thanks to Toyota GB's Fund For A Better Tomorrow scheme, which gives dealerships the opportunity to support worthy local charities.
The community's plan is to build an all-weather path for wheelchair access, improving site accessbiliy for the whole community. There are also plans to build a waterless public toilet prior to this, so that the path is not damaged by building and joins up neatly to the toilet.
The project is now well underway, as last weekend project leaders Nigel and Dominic staked out the route to be taken by the path, past the toilet which now is to be installed during the last week of March, all being well.
To prepare the site, volunteers will be clearing as much vegetation as they can on Saturday 23rd March. The path is set to be 1m wide and will be approximately 30m long.
Here at SLM Toyota we are very pleased to be able to help with such a fantastic project that will really help the local community. We wish them the best of luck and we can't wait to see the finished project!
