Plenty to go round in Zafira Tourer
  • Vauxhall’s “smooth new diesel” Zafira Tourer “looks good, feels good and is a very cheap way to shift the family about”, says the Daily Record in its review. “The 1.6-litre engine is both lean and mean and makes the sportier version of the Zafira exceptionally economical to run,” with a claimed 68.9mpg fuel return and emissions of 109g/km. “With the Zafira Tourer capable of seating seven, it makes the new model one of the cheapest ways of transporting a family.” There’s “more than enough performance” on tap thanks to the 1.6 diesel’s power output of 136bhp. “With plenty of mid-range pull, it accelerates from 0-60 in 10.4 seconds, going on to 125mph maximum. On the road it is refined and very quiet and, in all, a most impressive package. “Its forte is economy – it is the most frugal diesel Vauxhall has ever made – and although we couldn’t match the claimed figure, we recorded 47mpg on a drive that included a fair stretch of motorway work.” The Zafira Tourer is the first Vauxhall to get the 1.6. “Following on, the engine will appear in other Vauxhalls, including the British-built Astra and the all-new Insignia,” adds the Record.
