Our service team at SLM Vauxhall are one of the most important departments in our dealership, as they are responsible for not only the satisfaction of our customers that require vehicle repairs and servicing, but also ensuring that they drive away in safe and road worthy vehicles. Therefore, sourcing and selecting our Technicians is a meticulous task, as it takes a keen eye for detail, perfectionism, and a ‘by the book’ working standard, to do the job well.
This February, we were over the moon to have found Ben Wells, an experienced Technician with a diverse vehicle maintenance background, to fill a role within our SLM Vauxhall Hastings dealership.
Ben joins us following a colourful career as a vehicle maintenance specialist, driven by a passion for all things ‘engine’. He started as an apprentice working on HGVs (Heavy Good Vehicles), busses, and tractors. Learning his trade on these complex and often problematic engine types, gave him the knowledge and skillset to move into his first qualified roles; firstly with a small independent repair centre, working on vehicles of all shapes, sizes, and ages, and then onto a role with a fast-paced Mercedes Commercial Vehicle repair centre. Finally, before joining SLM Vauxhall, Ben enjoyed a side-step career move to a position as a mobile HGV mechanic, responding to often urgent diagnostic and repair calls, specifically for heavy goods vehicles.
With his extensive and somewhat unconventional experience, we know that Ben joins his new colleagues with a knowledge-base and skillset that will make him a refreshing addition to the team.
