Winter diving tips

With Jack Frost starting to nip up our noses, here are 5 brilliant tips to ensure you keep motoring this winter:

• Wash and go - dirt, melting snow and corrosive salts during the winter months will cause a lot of undetected damage so don't wait until the warmer months for a spring clean when it'll be too late for a cheap fix.
• Warm up - ensure your car is warm before setting off as revving a cold engine can cause additional wear.
• Be prepared - emergency kit. This should include a rug, a couple of containers of salt and sand, jump leads, snack foods, water and extra deicer.
• Batteries - when parking up for a long period of time, back your car into the driveway/parking space/garage so it can be reached easily with jump leads should it fail to start.
• Frozen locks - small cans of lock deicer are a great solution but in case you've left these inside the car, try warming the key with a match or lighter and thaw your way into the lock.
