Toyota AYGO voted best city car 2010
The annual What Car?/JD Power Vehicle Ownership Survey delved into the experiences of more than 17,200 motorists who have travelled on average over 17,000 miles in their cars. In all, 104 models from 27 manufacturers were rated this year with every aspect of owning them open to scrutiny, but the Toyota AYGO showed it had nothing to worry about scooping first place in the City car section.
Its success is founded on low ownership costs and excellent mechanical reliability, scoring five stars in both categories by owners. Owners of the AYGO were also impressed with its cheap servicing bills, superb fuel economy and low insurance premiums, reporting fewer engine and transmission faults than on any other city car.
Overall Toyota was also unmatched by any other manufacturer in the Ownership Costs section of the survey, which covers issues such as fuel consumption, insurance and the cost of servicing and repairs. This an area that will continue to go from strength to strength as the efficiency benefits of Toyota Optimal Drive technologies - a key feature of all new models over the past 18 months - come into play.
The message from the results of this year's Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study is that Toyota has reinforced its position as one of Britain's top manufacturers when it comes to making cars that are big on quality, owner appeal and value for money.
