  • SLM Toyota Uckfield would like to congratulate James Richardson, our apprentice technician, in coming 2nd in the Apprentice of the year 2014 competition. During the competition, James had to carry out a range of theory tests and demonstrate his practical skills in the pressure of a test environment. This year, 31 Toyota and Lexus apprentices made it through to the finals, which were held last week at the Toyota UK Training Academy in Nottingham. Drawn from centres across the country, the competitors competed in specific skills categories representing the spectrum of vehicle servicing, parts and repair work. The annual competition is a key element in Toyota’s programme to develop and reward the talents of its apprentices. High-quality workmanship and technical skills in the workshops are also fundamental to delivering excellent customer care and satisfaction. Toyota training also helps to equip and incentivise young people to build careers in the motor trade. Speaking about the competition, James explained: “I had a really great day and found it very challenging but good fun, it is also a privilege to be there with other great people”. We would like to wish James the best of luck in his future career within the motor industry!
